My passion for driving began at the age of 17, when I passed my first car test in Rhyl, North Wales, in 1993.

Over the years, I’ve been a learner, a test candidate, and completed multiple driving and instructor examinations—over half a dozen in total, across different vehicles and levels. I understand the nerves, pressure, and excitement that come with learning to drive, and this first-hand experience allows me to truly empathise with every student I teach today.

Before becoming a driving instructor, I worked in public transport, beginning with City of London Buses.

After moving to Bradford just before the millennium, I went on to drive every bus route operating from the Bradford depot.

I was also part of the team that helped introduce the UK’s first yellow school buses, initially launched in Halifax and later implemented across Bradford schools and roads. This gave me valuable first-hand experience working with children and young adults, as well as in-depth knowledge of local routes—from bus networks to practical driving test routes in Thornbury, Heaton, and Horsforth.

What this means for you:

There is not a road, link, or shortcut in Bradford that I do not know. My old A-Z map is long gone — the city’s layout is part of my DNA.
